February is Black History Month! Officially recognized in 1976 as part of the nation’s bicentennial celebration. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are part of our country's history. Here are a few ways to intentionally celebrate #blackhistorymonth: support black-owned businesses, read books and listen to podcast by black authors, engage with black art and history or donate to black-led organizations and nonprofits in your community. How will you celebrate Black History Month?

This year, we were proud to support The Black Heritage Society at the Original 45th Annual MLK JR Parade and Festival held in Downtown Houston. Mostyn Law along with our 1-800 TRUCKWRECK Drumline was there to celebrate MLK in the heart of Houston.

On January 18, 2023, the multi district litigation judge in charge of all 3M cases, Judge Casey Rodgers, declared an impasse of the court-ordered mediations between the plaintiffs and 3M. All cases are still on hold because of an appeal filed by 3M on one of Judge Rodgers' orders on successor liability. However, Judge Rodgers informed the parties that the she will move forward ruling on various other motions currently pending before her so that the cases will be ready to move forward as soon as the Eleventh Circuit of Appeals rules on the appeal. In the interim, the Court strongly encouraged the parties to continue negotiations.

Freezing Temps across Texas! Here's what to do if your pipes burst 

• Shut off the main water valve outside immediately. 
• Clean up as best as you can. 
• Dry the area as best as you can. 
• Take pictures and videos.
• Keep receipts for any supplies you have to buy for cleanup. 
• Keep receipts if you have to go to a hotel due to the damage. 
• Report the loss to your insurance company in writing and over the phone. (Some insurance companies require notice in writing. Do both!)

As temperatures come back up over the next few days, we still face the risk of water intrusion as frozen and split pipes begin to leak. 

• Find your main water valve now, when you don't need it. See what, if any, tools you need to turn it off. 
• Fill tubs with water to flush toilets. 
• Store some water separately in clean containers for drinking. 
• Slowly turn on faucets & taps as water comes back on.
