As we continue progressing with the regional changes process, we are now approaching Asia. The updates below are based on our Roadmap and the NomadMania Optimal Score methodology.

Asian countries where ONE NEW region is being added: 

• Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan. 

Additionally Turkiye is getting two new regions. Also, based on community input, we are fixing the internal borders of Iraq and Kyrgyzstan.

We're asking for your input for Jordan, which might get a new region.

These changes have now been implemented on the maps, although you might experience a few glitches initially while the system gradually reloads the data.

[POLL] Should we add a 4th region to Jordan?

Jordan is technically due for one additional region according to the Optimal Score 3.56.

In order to add another region to Jordan, we would keep Aqaba/Wadi Rum as is, create a Central Jordan (Petra) area and a Northern Jordan (Amman) area and also a big eastern desert area where there is little to see and do.

The question is: Should we add a 4th region to Jordan?

Eight Years - One Story

Our respected member and recipient of the NomadMania award for Most Purposeful Traveler 2025, Barry Hoffner, has just published his book Belonging to the World.

The book closes a profound chapter of Barry’s life — more than eight years of a meaningful journey toward every country in the world, born out of the tragic loss of his wife, Jackie.

Update on Switzerland

After publishing Batch 3: European Countries last week, we asked for additional local expert input on how to add a region in Switzerland.

As a result, we received excellent and well-curated feedback from several members suggesting that The Swiss Confederation should actually gain two regions by splitting the former NomadMania region Mittelland.

The two new regions therefore are:

• Central Switzerland – which includes old Swiss cantons that share a similar identity, traditions and geography.
• Bern Canton – one of the largest and most diverse Swiss cantons, including the national capital, Bern.

To finalise the European batch, we await the deliberations of our Dutch community, which is deciding how to allocate one more region to the Netherlands - it appears they are full of rather diverse ideas!

More Meetings Around the World & Local Input

We've recently received feedback from local communities in the Philippines and Indonesia following their recent events regarding possible improvements to the regional structure in both countries.

Since both countries are already oversplit according to the Optimal Score, the only thing we can realistically consider is improving the internal logic of the current regional divisions. Given the geographical complexity of both countries, we are now going through final consultations on the matter.

At the same time, we had a chance to reflect on something much more powerful about our community.

Just a little over a week ago, NomadMania members met in Kuwait for iftar together. A few days later, another gathering was scheduled in Dubai — and we all know what happened. Despite everything, the NomadMania community in the UAE still managed to meet with a small delay.

Meanwhile, other meetings were taking place around the world: Poland, Thailand and even on the remote Pacific island of Kosrae.

What an incredible community we have— resilient, global, and always finding ways to connect.
