We are seeking caring and reliable individuals to volunteer for a new service offering support to parents in the Upper Clutha.
With 250 babies born locally every year, and the transient nature of our community, there are many parents who find themselves isolated and without family support. The Community Networks/LINK Family Support Programme is for parents of preschool aged children in need of a little extra help.
The idea of supporting young families has been discussed a lot over the years. This programme is the result of collaboration between community organisations and family service providers including Volunteer South, Plunket, Wānaka Well, Community Networks/LINK, and the Central Lakes Breastfeeding Trust.
Volunteers will spend two hours a week with families in their homes, offering companionship and assisting with day-to-day household tasks - all in the context of a confidential and non-judgmental relationship. Tasks will vary, but could include a catch up over a cuppa, a bit of vacuuming or washing the dishes.
For more information or to register interest in volunteering, see the role description on the Volunteer South website, email familysupport@communitynetworks.co.nz
or call 03 443 7799.
