We, the American Friends of Likud, applaud and thank Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera and Foreign Minister Eisenhower Mkaka for officially announcing Malawi's intention to open its Embassy in Jerusalem by next summer. Malawi becomes the first African nation to announce such a move, reinforcing that Jerusalem is the undisputed capital of the State of Israel.
Since its founding in 1964, Malawi is one of the few African states with which Israel has had continuous diplomatic relations. Israel has provided Malawi with aid, especially in agriculture, for many years and continues its support through initiatives that contribute toward Malawi’s food security strategy and accelerated and sustained socioeconomic development.
We also want to congratulate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has long advocated for and promoted the mutual benefits of Israel deepening its ties with African nations.
