When I wrote Second Chances I always knew that Ren Garrett, the head wrangler at Aspen Gold Lodge, would become a hero in another book. What I didn’t expect was for his dog Murray to become a character in his own right. I don’t usually have animals in my stories so the idea of Murray becoming a character wasn’t something that even crossed my mind. The mutt however had other ideas. He kept taking over scenes and inspiring new ones. So don’t be surprised when he shows up in scenes in my new story Finding Hope. Especially since Ren is Murray’s owner.

Recovering from injuries sustained from an IED explosion in Afghanistan, Samantha Kincaid escaped to Spencer, Colorado to her great-aunt Gladys’s cabin in an attempt to regain her strength and continue her therapy with Dr. Rasmussen. Nightmares and panic attacks were her norm these days, a circumstance that Samantha desperately wants to change. Maybe keeping her life simple and not interacting with a lot of people could help her ease her panic attacks. Maybe not, but she had to try. After spending some time with Murray, she discovers that having the dog close by helps calm her nerves. Could she have stumbled on a way to hold off her panic attacks? She could only hope.
