season 2 episode 4

Sunrise over the ocean

Free Listening Day, once in NYC, once in LA, now on Google Meets! 2020.04.11

Hi from within a thumbnail on a screen, !

While I miss being with people in-person and speaking eye-to-eye, there’s something really awesome about being able to see everyone’s full faces at the exact same time and to all be present in the same single conversation TOGETHER! Gathering within thumbnails brings all sorts of interesting little things to the party! Such as...

Pikachu suddenly popping up onscreen when a classmate in a Pikachu hood bends over.

A screen of full of feet waving in the air like palm trees in the wind, i.e. yoga class!

A mom pulled away from the mat... A toddler wandering into view who is so captivated, she follows along: Mountain pose! Forward bend! Lift! Don't drop that pacifier!

A yogi's thumbnail suddenly taken hostage by her little dog's pudgy butt.

Strangers across the country spontaneously taking out cell phone flashlights and lighters to wave in the air during the final ballad of a Zoom concert!

Feeling like you’re slowly unwrapping a gift as you scan across a screen full of thumbnails and unexpectedly find many familiar faces.

Practicing Sunday morning yoga with a favorite teacher for the first time since you moved cross-country, then getting to meet her whole family spread out across many thumbnails!

While these aren’t ideal times, there are actually things I truly value about this Zoom world! Being able to attend and participate in events and creative endeavors with zero geographical limitations is a big one. What about you?

Three more questions for you, , if you so care to share!

  1. What’s a little thing that has delighted you lately?
  2. What small little thing within your home do you appreciate?
  3. What little action can you take to brighten someone else's day?

Let me know!

<3, Fern

IT ME!

Oh why not, I make myself grin too! I've been reading Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Gmorning, Gnight! on my Instagram and Facebook stories every, well, morning and night and it’s been a surprisingly delightful addition to my morning and evening routines. (View this post for an intro or view many more readings in this Instagram Highlight.)

I've also been creating daily window messages like "I LIKE YOUR HAIR" in the image above which are visible to my neighbors and passersby! (View a selection on Instagram Highlights. I share them on Twitter as well.)

Bonus: Quarantine Creation!

My acting class assignment was to make a short film within the week. Here’s what I came up with! It was meant to be much much longer, i.e. there are over 40 books in the story and this only covers the first 3... so this is now the teaser for A Bookstory! ⁣(⁣And here's the behind-the-scenes.)
