Have you ever taken an Awe Walk?

Hello there,

Itโ€™s finally June! It seems like there is already so much going on, doesnโ€™t it? But there's always time for a walk (or there should be, right).

The school year is wrapping up, weddings, weekend barbeques are scheduled and, for those of us in the East and Mid-West, the garden is calling, and itโ€™s already time to start weeding.

May was jam-packed for me, too, how about you?

Last month My Concrete Dove hosted 31 Days of Self-Care, which kept me pretty busy. I hope you were able to participate in at least some of the activities on the self-care calendar. ๐ŸŒŸGold star if you did!

If not, itโ€™s never too late. Just click here to get the calendar and apply it to June. And a walk is a great way to start.

The goal of the month-long May event was to explore self-care and discover what works best for you to develop a habit of self-care for the months & years ahead. While I won't be posting daily about self-care for a while, it will be a recurring theme on the blog and Instagram (I hope your following me there).

If you struggle with idea of self-care, and many do, please remember what Jesus said, โ€œLove the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.โ€™ โ€œ โ€“Mark 12:30 (NIV)

He also said, โ€œThe second is this: โ€˜Love your neighbor as yourself.โ€™ There is no commandment greater than these.โ€โ€“Mark 12:31 (NIV)

Did you notice the โ€œas yourselfโ€ part of verse 31? Itโ€™s just as important as the rest of the passage.

Friends, we cannot love, and Iโ€™ll add care for others well when we neglect loving and caring for ourselves. Self-care is not a selfish activity. Self-care is a necessary activity and one I believe we are instructed to do.

If self-care is a struggle for you, hit reply and let me know how I can pray for you.

Iโ€™ll keep this short because, you know, itโ€™s finally nice outside. So, go take an Awe Walk (find out what that is here) and enjoy your June and your day. Here's a photo from one of the Awe Walks I've taken with my son.

This is the beautiful Cranbrook House & Gardens in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
