On November 4th, 2024, P@SHA held an inspiring Meet & Greet session with Salim Ghauri, the visionary Founder and CEO of NETSOL Technologies Pakistan, at NIC Karachi! Attendees had the opportunity to connect with Mr. Salim Ghauri, as well as hear from P@SHA’s Senior Vice Chairman - Mr. Muhammad Umair Nizam, CEC Member - Hassan Bin Rizwan. The event was further honored by the presence of Syed Azfar Hussain, Project Director of National Incubation Center Karachi (NIC).

Strengthening Academia-Industry Synergy: P@SHA's Strategic Visit to NUTECH
On November 5th, 2024, P@SHA's Chairman, Sajjad Syed, and the P@SHA team visited the National University of Technology NUTECH. Joined by P@SHA’s CEC Member - Sheikh Abdul Qadir, Secretary General - Nadeem Aslam Malik, and Dr. Sonia Saleem, the delegation focused on strengthening academia-industry links. The meeting agenda revolved around fostering IT industry support through NUTECH’s R&D initiatives, building a Digital Learning Platform for talent and product development, and establishing sustainable IT-based solutions for the manufacturing sector.
This visit set the stage for impactful collaborations, marking an exciting step forward in advancing Pakistan's tech landscape.

On November 9th, 2024, Nadeem A. Malik, Secretary General of P@SHA, was honored as the Guest of Honor at the Agile Conference Pakistan (ACP24) at FAST NUCES University, Islamabad. Celebrating a decade of Agile Pakistan, the event gathered over 300 attendees, 10+ expert speakers, and prominent industry leaders.
In his address, Mr. Nadeem Malik highlighted the rapid growth of Pakistan’s IT sector and its transformative potential for the country’s economy. His insights on the role of Agile methodologies in supporting this growth added depth to a day filled with discussions, networking, and a celebration of Agile excellence in Pakistan!

On November 29th, 2024, a productive meeting took place between the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) and the Information Science & Technology Department, Government of Sindh.
Led by Mr. Ayaz Ahmed U. - Member of Industry Development, Mr. Muhammad Umair Nizam - Senior Vice Chairman of P@SHA, and the effort was supported by the IT Secretary Mr. Noor Ahmed Samoo, also the meeting included Mr. Hassan Bin Rizwan, P@SHA CEC Member, and prominent representatives from the Sindh Government IST Department.

On November 21, 2024, the National University of Technology (NUTECH) and Mr. Umair Nizam, Senior Vice Chairman of P@SHA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This MOU will focus on creating and developing industrial IT solutions through innovation, research, and skills development.
The collaboration between NUTECH and P@SHA will provide valuable support to the IT, construction, and manufacturing industries in Pakistan.

E-commerce Policy 2.0 suggestions
The Ministry of Commerce invited P@SHA to give feedback and recommendations for the formulation of its eCommerce Policy 2.0. P@SHA CEC member Abdul Wahab and Research Lead Kashif Hussain attended the meeting. P@SHA provided comprehensive feedback and policy suggestions to improve the following policy chapters of the new eCommerce policy: Regulation & Facilitation; Financial Inclusion & Payment Digitization; Empowerment of Youth & SMEs; Taxation Structure; Consumer Protection; ICT & Telecom Services; Data Protection & Investment; Global Connectivity; and Logistics. The MoC was assured full support and cooperation from P@SHA in future consultations related to the eCommerce policy 2.0.

P@SHA & PTA Webinar on IP & VPN Registration
On November 12, 2024, P@SHA, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), hosted an interactive and insightful webinar session on IP and VPN registration. The session was joined by over 120 industry representatives from the IT sector and provided key guidance on navigating the regulatory framework, addressing essential questions for IT & Telecom companies. The session featured a live Q&A with PTA experts and post-session support for any additional queries. It's a huge step towards enhancing regulatory understanding and supporting digital industry growth!

Compliance of TDAP on the recommendations of the Market intelligence reports by the TIOs
The meeting brought together associations from various industries to discuss trade and export promotion strategies. P@SHA emphasized the need for greater flexibility in TDAP’s yearly calendar, suggesting a six-month format to enable companies to better assess the benefits of participating in exhibitions. P@SHA emphasized the need to engage Trade and Investment Officers (TIOs) through specialized training programs focused on the IT sector and is anticipating the development of a Market Intelligence Report to facilitate enhanced B2B and G2G interactions during tech exhibitions. The meeting underscored the importance of stakeholder engagement, enhanced planning, and better alignment with sector-specific needs to optimize trade promotion efforts.

P@SHA’s Policy team; Manager Policy & Govt. Affairs Laraib Farhat and Policy & Govt. Affairs Lead Gulraiz Iqbal held a meeting with the Asian Development Bank. The meeting focused on operationalizing policy recommendations into actionable initiatives and developing a comprehensive roadmap for Pakistan's digital transformation. The discussion revolved around the intersection of the digital economy, infrastructure, and other high-GDP sectors, alongside addressing sector-specific gaps in areas like gender responsiveness, taxation, and affordability.
P@SHA shared insights on establishing a long-term vision for Pakistan’s digital growth, emphasizing a four-pillar framework with clear KPIs and benchmarks for a "Digital Pakistan." Proposals included creating a dedicated Digital Sector at ADB, addressing gaps in digital solutions, and fostering innovation in high-growth areas like the gaming industry. Gender inclusivity and accessibility were highlighted as priorities under a broader digital inclusion agenda. Future-oriented strategies focused on AI advisory, green-tech, and IoT frameworks.
Takeaways included drafting a 10-year strategic roadmap, and developing policies to promote affordability and gender-responsive digital inclusion while anchoring progress with defined KPIs.

Engagement with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)
P@SHA and PTA had multiple meetings to discuss the challenges surrounding the VPN registration process and its impact on the IT industry. P@SHA highlighted the need for streamlined procedures, temporary solutions to facilitate businesses, and acknowledgment mechanisms to confirm registrations. Concerns were raised about privacy issues, declining order bookings, and delays affecting businesses due to cross-verification processes. PTA acknowledged the urgency and proposed immediate measures, including expedited whitelisting and revising the registration framework, while emphasizing the need for long-term systemic solutions. It was agreed that further collaboration with relevant authorities, including MoITT and the Economic Affairs Division, would be essential to address these challenges effectively.
As a result, P@SHA successfully developed and published case-specific FAQs for its members, providing targeted guidance and effectively addressing member inquiries in collaboration with PTA.

On November 1st, 2024, P@SHA's Chairman, Sajjad Syed, along with the P@SHA's CEC Members, held a productive meeting with the CEO of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Mr. Abu Bakar. The agenda focused on strengthening Pakistan’s IT and ITeS sector, and developing strategies that will not only advance the industry's growth but also tap into new opportunities to expand Pakistan’s IT export potential.

3rd Meeting of National Committee on ICT Skills Capacity and Development
SG P@SHA and Skills Development Manager attended the 3rd meeting of the National Committee on ICT Skills Capacity Development, chaired by the Federal IT Minister, to identify and record all skills development programs being carried out by the federal and provincial government. PSEB, NAVTTC, PITB, KPITB, GB IT board and ISTD Sindh and other relevant stakeholders attended the meeting. It was planned that the committee would help formulate a framework to improve the planning of training programmes to avoid possible overlaps and duplication of efforts across the nation.

P@SHA & GIZ Collaborate to Launch Comprehensive Skills Requirement Survey
The P@SHA Skills Team, along with SG, met with GIZ to finalize the support required from GIZ in carrying out the skills requirement survey. GIZ is supporting the initiative by providing five resources, including one senior-level statistician. The survey this year will have a larger scope and greater impact. This survey is the first step to making P@SHA a QAB in the coming years.

P@SHA & USAID ERDA Unite to Foster Gamepreneurship in KPK
P@SHA Skills team and Vice Chairman met with ERDA USAID to discuss their new project on Gamepreneurship in KP and its Merged Districts. This project aims to introduce and promote games development as a career choice through different universities like Pak-Austria Fachhochschule, Fast UET etc. They plan to collaborate with P@SHA to conduct various capacity-building sessions and Games Development competitions over the next 5 years to raise awareness and develop skills in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while establishing a sustainable financial model for P@SHA.

Course development and Overall collaboration with British Council
P@SHA collaborated with the British Council and attended their CBT oriented course development exercise in Gilgit-Baltistan from November 18 to 22. In addition the Skills team met British Council to align their funding of training programs with industry requirements. Key outcomes include:
Enhancing the future funding mechanism for their Center of Excellence at KIU.
Creating an Industry-Academia Bridge program in GB
Designing an upskilling program tailored to the GB IT industry,
This provided an incentive for local companies to join P@SHA.
