I wanted to design a portrait to illustrate the incredible energy of the Queen as a person as well as her formal role. I've never met her, but as I'm a Queen’s Scout and Guide, she has a special place in my heart. This mixed media piece incorporates the blue of her dresses, gems, jewels, the sandy colour of the corgis, and if you look closely you can even spot a pot of handcream, which she might keep in her handbag (along with the marmalade sandwich obviously).
The original art was made using mixed media collage, pastels and gouache and if you came to Art Club last year, you might recognise some of it from our abstract portraits session.
To celebrate this amazing Jubilee I’m giving away a limited edition signed print. Just go to the post on either my Instagram or Facebook Art page, and Share, Comment and Like the post. Next week someone will be chosen at random to receive a commemorative limited edition signed print.
If you're not on Facebook or Instagram, I don't want you to miss out, do if you'd like to be in the draw too, just forward this email to a friend who might be interested, and let me know.
I also made a commemorative mug with this abstract portrait on one side, and the official platinum jubilee logo on the other. So if you'd like a souvenir of this amazing historic occasion you can see more pics of those in my shop here:
