Each term schools receive the attendance data for their schools and we can compare it against national averages, Auckland Schools and our own school. The baseline is children attending school 90% of the time, 9 days every fortnight. Belmont Primary had 91.6% of all students attend 90% or more. Nationally 61% of all children attended 90% of the time. All Auckland Schools had an average of 63%.
We have analysed our student achievement data following our Term 2 assessments. Once again our data shows that our children make excellent progress as they move through each cohort. As the children get older, more achieve above the standard and well above the standard.
Reading: 35% of all students were at their appropriate level, 22% above and 31% well above. Therefore 88% were at or above their appropriate curriculum level.
Writing: 91% of all students were at or above their appropriate level.
Maths: 60% of all students were at their appropriate level, 20% above and 11% were well above. Therefore 91% of all students were at or above their appropriate curriculum level.
I would like to acknowledge the staff for their professionalism, their engagement and their knowledge. To the parents, thanks for your support and everything you do outside of school hours. To the Board, thank you for all the support of teachers and for the physical resources and providing teacher aides to assist many children with their learning. To all our students, thanks for giving your learning a go. Thanks for trying your best always. Thanks for wanting to come to school and to learn. There is a clear correlation between attendance and success.
Finally, thanks to all the managers and coaches of our sports teams and the parent helpers for Term 3. This is much appreciated. See you tomorrow at our special assembly.
Kind regards,
Bruce Cunningham
