Cabinet goons plus the greatest gravy train out there called Parliament just don’t get it. Primarily it’s meant to provide leadership including national security, economic security, maintaining order plus providing public services for the needy. Bluntly, without any economy there will be no NHS.
We’ve read the stats and know who the vulnerable people are requiring due care and attention - so just do it. We know that crowded homes, the likes of supermarkets, schools and colleges are the super spreader environments. We also must appreciate by now that sensibly operated table service restaurants are at the bottom of that list.
Bartellas hasn’t received one call from the NHS Test and Trace regime all year and since we have been forcibly closed now for over six months the recent and scary surge in numbers most certainly wasn’t us Guv. Utter madness and an utter utter disgrace.
So we battle on with a revised and extended takeaway menu for you to choose from, available Thursdays through to Sundays - because we have a duty and we also care. We’ve added some more hot food, ready-to-eat including Bartellas burgers and a peri peri chicken wrap.
When we are eventually allowed to open and trade as intended I’m confident we’ll be quickly into our stride, partly because there will still be considerable disposable income to hand (we can’t do or go anywhere) but mainly because we have all suffered enough and are desperately keen to take up from where we left off, sensibly and safely.
Not a “great bang” just a “gradual unwrapping” apparently. Let’s go for 1st April then Boris as a backstop - Fools Day. It will have been one year and one week to the day when you first threw us under the bus and shut us down. I’ve already suggested to the powers that be how we can do it. Inviting our local stalwarts who will have been suitably vaccinated well before then and will be exercising their personal responsibility to venture out from behind their shields to a familiar place where they can safely meet like-minded others, unless that’s still considered a crime.
Supplemented with Test and Dine, a scheme I have promoted for well over a month whereby customers able to provide evidence of a recent vaccination or negative test can book a table and dine at local government approved restaurants such as Bartellas with other qualifying family or friends - limited to four at a table, sensibly spaced from others with all our necessary precautions in place.
Bookings in the usual way then please by telephone or online - something to look forward to and to help take your mind off this current mess while hopefully enjoying your choice of a regular take away.
As ever,
