Last week (April 1st) or le
premier avril, as in other countries, is a day where it's ok to have a bit of
fun at someone else's expense and call them a poisson d'avril. The exact
origins of the tradition, which includes taping a cut-out of a fish to another's back, are a little murky, but it's a day to cast your "net"
and have some fun.
Now for the serious stuff. We
have all been horrified by recent events in Ukraine. One of the best ways to
help is to donate funds to reputable non-governmental organizations. Here are five (5) organizations accepting donations.
With Easter around the

After almost two years of
travel restrictions, our travel partners are back with their experiences this
season, and there is something for everyone.
Food, wine and the sights: Martine at Goût et Voyage is
running her gourmet tours in Provence and Italy this spring and returns for a "Taste of Provence for the Holidays" in December. Christopher and
Laurent at OohProvence have been busy developing new tours, including two
fabulous 3-day itineraries. Julia and her family at TripUSAFrance are thrilled
to be back in the South of France with their 9-day trips, including special
lavender excursions in July.
Painting and French lessons: Join artist Jill Steenhuis
for painting weeks near Aix-en-Provence, where you will paint plein air and
discover the same views that inspired Paul Cézanne. Sticking to creative
pursuits, Tessa Baker's painting weeks in Lorgues or near Bonnieux are a
promise of art and great food. If you want to challenge your brain in another
way, join Avril en Provence for four-day immersion programs that include 15
hours of French instruction followed by afternoons of testing your new skills. Explore all the tours here.
