With live music at both ends of State Street, outdoor dining, and extended shopping hours, Thursday Evenings in the Square have been offering people a settling-back into something that feels familiar this season.
The crisp fall vibe on these beautiful evenings the past few Thursdays also holds the promise of better days ahead and the much-anticipated return of some beloved Kennett Square events. If there’s a theme that holds these diverse events together, it’s the joy of coming together again and a pride in uniquely Kennett traditions.

While placemaking can take many shapes and forms, at its heart it's about strengthening the connections between people and places by creating places where people want to live, work, play, or explore.
Generations of those who came before us shaped the place we know and love as Kennett, and when we create even a temporary place for people to enjoy—even something as simple as setting up a game in a public space for people to play—we're following in their placemaking footsteps.
What one small project would make Kennett Square an even better place? Your creative idea could win you $1,000 to bring that idea to life!
But get brainstorming this weekend, because the deadline for applications for the adult competition is this Friday, October 22nd!
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Square Roots Collective, there will be two separate competitions and two $1,000 prizes—one for youth ages 12 to 18, and another for adults over 18. Youth project ideas are due November 24th—please help us spread the word with creative young people you know!
