JANUARY CHCEKLIST

File a Sales Tax Return with the Texas Comptroller’s office due January 20 (quarterly and annual filings.)
School Bell Award Nominee deadline is 8:00 PM, January 20.
Amend your budget as necessary.
Election of Nominating Committee and alternates as prescribed in the bylaws

ELECTION SEASON

As we head into election season, a gentle reminder:

Candidate filings have not started yet for SBISD Trustee Elections - filing begins on January 19 and closes at 5 pm on February 18.
Please abstain from inviting a candidate or "potential" candidate to speak at your PTA meeting until all candidates have had a chance to file.

If you have one candidate come to speak at a PTA function/meeting, you must invite all candidates (this goes for any election - including State Board of Education, City Council, etc). They don’t all have to show up but all MUST be invited. A PTA cannot endorse a candidate.

As always, the Council will host a candidate forum before early voting begins in April.

The second virtual summit of the Texas PTA
Youth Empowered for Success (YES!) program is
Monday, January 17 at 7 PM.
Will high school juniors and seniors from your campus be attending?

YES! is a series of FREE virtual summits where high school juniors and seniors will hear from interesting speakers and participate in interactive activities on a series of topics relating to civic engagement. The summits are designed to further engage students interested in politics, civil discourse, and government.

Signup to help at the always amazing, great weather SBEF Clay Tournament. You will have a fun day outside and a SUPER LUNCH! We are flexible with times so just let us know below. Stay a few hours, or all day...cleanup team is usually done and able to be at carpool pickup.
