This second edition of our #10YearsTogether newsletter, dedicated to celebrations of the 10th anniversary of EaP policy, puts this time the contribution of the Civil Society Forum to successful implementation of the policy in the foreground.
As a result of comprehensive consultations with more than 70 member organisations, EaP CSF prepared “23 Civil Society Ideas for the Policy Beyond 2020”. This policy paper argues why the EU should return to a partnership based on values and democratic reform, and proposes concrete ideas on how the EaP policy could be improved through changes in three areas: partners for democratic reforms, policy tools and financial instruments.
Celebrating 10th anniversary of the EaP policy, EaP CSF was represented at both: the panel discussion of the High-level Conference on 14 May 2019 in Brussels, as well as delivered a speech at the Foreign Affairs Ministerial the day before. Taking stocks of the policy achievements, the third and crowning event of the EaP CSF Brussels Public Event Series, marking 10 years anniversary of Eastern Partnership attracted full room at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic with more than 100 participants attending. Democracy, human rights, good governance and stability were in focus of the debates. Our newly published policy paper offered further food for thought on civil society engagement, tools for policy implementation and financial support.
