Dear Reader !

The summer is in full swing, but we have still some work to do. Here is the latest overview of our activities in July, starting with our new Steering Committee composition and Co-chairs, elected for the remainder of this cycle (ending in 2020). With our Annual Assembly six months down the line, you can already get your calendars out and take note of its dates and location! You will also find EaP CSF’s latest Policy Paper on Environment – and string of announcements, calls and opportunities, that might be of interest to you.

We are happy to announce that this year, EaP CSF will participate in the Eastern Partnership Structured Consultation, launched by the EU institutions to improve the EaP policy after 2020. We will provide our joint input as a Forum after the summer break. Nevertheless, if you feel that you want to contribute with your individual message already now, feel free to explore the link above.

We wish you a pleasant read and well-deserved summer break.

Yours,

EaP CSF Secretariat

News from EaP CSF

New Steering Committee Composition

After elections at the National Platform and Working Group level this spring, the Steering Committee has renewed its composition. The new Country Facilitators and WG Coordinators represented at the SC, met for the first time on 4-5 July – to discuss the Forum’s priorities in Brussels. You can learn more about the new composition, Compliance Committee or Code of Ethical Conduct, and find individual contact details, on our website.

Congratulations to Ina Coseru (National Environmental Center, Moldova) and Sofia Strive (Forum Syd, Sweden), who were elected Co-chairs of the SC for the coming year!

New EaP CSF Policy Paper on Environment

The new policy cycle should take into account the fundamental importance of preserving natural capital in the EaP countries – and strengthening their institutional framework, suggests EaP CSF Policy Paper on Environment. The publication argues that any progress made is often “hindered by two interconnected stumbling blocks”: inadequate capacity and poor, or insufficient, implementation. Civil society should push for further environmental reforms – especially in countries, which refuse to hold structural dialogues, such as Azerbaijan or Belarus.

Countdown to EaP CSF Annual Assembly

Every year, the Annual Assembly brings together over 200 civil society representatives from the EaP region and EU – as well as EaP and EU stakeholders and officials. This year, our flagship event will take place in Brussels, between 4-6 December 2019. Expect two and a half days, packed with discussions on the current state of affairs and possible future developments, both for civil society and the wider neighbourhood. Be sure to follow us on Social Media (Facebook and Twitter). We promise you regular updates and teasers on topics, speakers and planned event highlights!

EaP CSF in Press and Social Media

EaP CSF has been particularly active on Social Media in the first half of 2019. We have done some internal investigations into the numbers – and we are happy to announce, that we have a particularly active audience in Georgia! Moreover, we are proud of our young, active female users on Facebook and encourage all of you to keep on being active in spreading the word about us. With around 100 news mentions in local and international media, EaP CSF has reached its highest score ever.
