What's recently happened?

Reopened section of road towards Great Western Way.

Reopened section of road from Great Western Way to Westmead Industrial Estate.

Access to Westmead Industrial Estate is now via Meads roundabout.

On 30 March, the section of road from Great Western Way to Westmead reopened to traffic.

The section of road between Westmead Drive and Withymead roundabout (by Simply Gym and Kidz About) was closed to traffic, allowing phase two of the scheme to begin.

Access to Westmead Industrial Estate will be maintained at all times via Meads roundabout; there is no access to Stonehill Green. Access to Stonehill Green is via The Chesters and buses remain diverted via Great Western Way.

A pedestrian diversion has been set up due to the extensive drainage work required underneath the footpath. Site clearance has also started between Westmead and the Withymead roundabout.

What's happening next?

Phase two of the project from Westmead Drive to Withymead roundabout is now underway.

An ecologist has been on site to make sure that any nesting birds are not disturbed while site clearance continues into the middle of next week.

After, our contractor will begin removing the existing kerbs and will then begin to expose the utilities under the road surface. This will take a few weeks to make sure that the utility pipes are not damaged during excavation.

The pipes under the entire length of the road need to be exposed before the utility companies will be on site.
