The Catholic Women's League members in the Diocese of Calgary recently convened for their 102nd Annual Calgary Diocesan CWL Convention (May 3-4, 2024), themed "Called by Name to Community," adopting the spirit of the Diocesan Pastoral Renewal.
Members gathered for a weekend of inspiration, reflection, and celebration of their successes. They also joined in prayer throughout the day and in the Eucharist with Bishop McGrattan for the opening Mass, and Fr. pilmaiken Lezano, CWL Spiritual Advisor, for the closing Mass. The event featured inspiring keynote presentations by Dr. Bonnie Annicchiarico, Rev. Tim Boyle, and Dr. Peter Baltutis, the CWL Chair for Catholic Studies at St. Mary's University.

Jan Myhre from St. Peter's Calgary shared, "When my husband Jim and I moved back to Calgary, I needed to find a way to meet like-minded, faith-filled women. I thought, what better way to do so than to join the CWL?" Little did she know that this decision would profoundly change her life.

Before becoming Catholic, Michelle led an ordinary, secular life, indifferent to church and God except during crises. Her family upbringing left her skeptical and independent. But somewhere in her late 30s, she began searching for the meaning of "right action" and exploring various philosophies. A chance encounter with a Miraculous Medal and a friend’s advice led her to seek answers in the Church.
