I have fond memories of Sinterklaas Eve in the Netherlands. There, Christmas is reserved as a religious holiday, but Sinterklaas Dag (St. Nicholas Day) is celebrated on December 6th (the original saint's name-day). Gifts are exchanged on the morning of Sinterklaas Dag. The evening before is celebrated with special treats (for example Pepernoten - a nutmeg flavoured hard round cookie, and soft gingerbread men shaped like the saint, and often a chocolate letter of the recipient's first initial, amongst others). A neighbour would often leave these treats at the door, masquerading as Sinterklaas or his assistant Zwarte Piet, or scatter them quickly through an open window or door. It was so much fun!
Each day of the Twelve Days of Winter Fun we showcase items in several categories: books/charts, kits, fabrics, fibres, notions, embellishments, finishing products, gift ideas, stocking stuffer ideas. plus a craft, recipe, free chart, or tip.
Most items will be available for purchase on our website, but you can also purchase by email or telephone. All items will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to quantities on hand. We'll do our best to determine who was first in the case of multiple requests and limited quantities. Many items may be special-ordered if someone else purchases it first, but regular prices will apply.
I'll also mention that sometimes our inventory is wrong, and we may have more of something than our website indicates. Please enquire if the website does not show the "add to cart" button on an item you are interested in.
