A popular greeting from the Masai tribe is “Kasserian ingera” (meaning “and how are the children?” ). The customary reply is "the children are well". This month we bring to you a resource provided by Boston Public Schools in the spirit of making sure our children are well. There are restorative justice supporters in the school district who created documents of Restorative Circles. They intend for the documents to be adapted and adjusted as needed to aid the youth as well as adults.
During times of chaos and controversy, joy and reconciliation, there is much to be said, but much more to be done. At HTI, we are committed to moving beyond written statements, opting instead to take intentional action that supports positive change. On day 21 of January 2021 there is certainly a sense of renewal but without collective energy and action, it will easily fade away.
What We're Doing
We continue to LISTEN 4 JUSTICE.The ONLY way we begin to heal is to move beyond our preconceived prejudices and untruths to listen to our individual stories (we all have them). Collectively, we learn from one another and we unlearn. What we're finding is that unlearning is just as important as learning. Today, answer this question - What is it that you thought you knew, that you now realize was not the truth?
We stay true to the HTI Way.We set the stage. We create the experience. Then we invite you in. What you have experienced with HTI is our way. It's intentional. It's thought-provoking. It's engaging. That is our way, the HTI Way and it allows our partners to have great success. If you have yet to experience it, we extend an opportunity for you to do so.
We grow leaders. What we know, understand, and embrace is the power of good leadership. We are forthcoming with our ability to coach and support leaders through professional development. We continue to see the impact it has across organizations and communities.
We serve as a resource. Our toolkit of resources is steadily growing. We're always available to our partners, Catalysts, and extended community as a means of support.
HTI Catalysts utilizes facilitated experiences to shift leaders and communities towards equity and shared visioning that impact change. Our three areas of specialty include Advancing Equity, Youth Development and Education Transformation.
