NASHVILLE, TN (April 9, 2021) – Britnee Kellogg has always been honest with her fans about her struggles, triumphs, traumas and successes – the good, the bad and everything in between. In her most recent release, “Back of My Mind,” Kellogg shares her feelings on rumors that her ex had been unfaithful in his current relationship. The singer/songwriter offers an unlikely, sympathetic perspective on the perpetual cycle of infidelity and spoke with People.com about the story behind the tune.

She shared with writer Tricia Despres, "It's a song that basically says that I feel for his new wife and I know what she might be going through…Maybe I shouldn't feel like that, but I do. So, if she hears [this song], I want her to know that if she ever needs me, I'm here."
“Girl don’t lie
I know you think about it in the back of your mind
That something ain’t right
When your heart goes black with every little white lie
You don’t say it
You’re just prayin’
That’s he’s changing his ways
It’s just a matter of time
I shouldn’t feel for you
But I do in the back of my mind”
“Back of My Mind” initially gained traction on TikTok where it has amassed over 3.7 million impressions and was named Nights with Elaina’s TikTok Pick of the Week. The Washington native wrote the song back in 2019 with Autumn McEntire and Eric Wikman but earlier this year, Kellogg played the demo on her TikTok account where it immediately struck a chord with many fans. Excitement around the song spread and she quickly garnered millions of views. Kellogg also received thousands of comments from women in the same position who related to the lyrics. With messages like “you are writing my life,” the feedback was immense and she immediately went to the studio to record it.
Kellogg continued to People, "My songs are 100% authentic, sometimes to a fault. Sometimes I will go into the writing room and I will have these lyrics that don't really rhyme, and I really don't care. I will fight with everything that I have to put music out there that is real and music that people want and need to hear…I think my music is touching a very untouched segment of the industry, those listeners over the age of 25 who are divorced and scared and hurt and feeling alone. I'm hoping my music makes them feel not as alone anymore."
Kellogg will perform “Back of My Mind” and more when she takes over The Boot’s Instagram and Facebook pages on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 8:00P CT. Tune-In here - Instagram + Facebook.
Kellogg has shared the stage with some of country music’s biggest names including Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Kane Brown, Chris Young, Lee Brice, and Martina McBride. She is also currently plotting new tour dates for 2021.
