Crews have been busy at Secord Dam. Here are some of the things they've been up to:
Constructing a cofferdam downstream so people can inspect the draft tube.
Disassembling the generator to modify the structure for the low level outlet.
Clearing trees to prepare the site for the restoration project.
Beginning initial stages of mobilization for the steel sheet pile project.
If you have an interest in the technical and engineering side of restoration or know someone who does you won't want to miss the FLTF Path to Four Lakes Restoration Symposium.
Presenters will dive into the science and engineering aspects of restoring four dams. Attendees will also get to hear from the Director of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, Liesel Clark.
The event is free to attend but you must register in advance.
