Second year of anniversary of the war in Ukraine

February 24, 2024 marked the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. "We stand together in inviting Christians and all people of goodwill to prayerfully consider how we are all called and might contribute to, the achievement of peace in and for Ukraine.”

On February 18, 2024, the First Sunday of Lent, 222 catechumens from 31 parishes convened at St. Mary's Cathedral to partake in the Rite of Election with Bishop McGrattan. The Rite of Election marks their commitment and readiness to become disciples of Jesus Christ, where they inscribed their names in the Book of the Elect in anticipation of their initiation into the sacred mysteries at the forthcoming Easter Vigil. Father John Kohler achieves another academic milestone!

|
Father John Kohler recently accomplished a major milestone in his academic journey and thanked everyone for their support. After working on his doctorate thesis since October 2020, he defended it last Tuesday.
"The final half hour, I faced a barrage of questions about Paul and the covenant: 'How do you respond? Defend your thesis.' I held my ground and gave my defence. And I passed." Read post.

As you may have read in last week's article, Bishop McGrattan and the Renewal Leadership Teams were encouraged with the participation of the Parish Renewal Teams during the orientation, as well as the hospitality provided by the hosting parishes. These efforts were significant and much appreciated.
Additional guidance for the next step after the Orientation is currently being prepared and will be shared with the Parish Renewal Teams on Feb. 29. The Parish Renewal Teams will soon enter their team formation stage.
Many parishes are still in the process of building their teams. If you are unsure about what is happening in your community, seek out information and encourage your pastoral team to continue taking part and walk together in this season of #Renewal.

Alpha Youth - an amazing success in Brooks, AB

If it is true that if you feed them, they will come, it is even truer with teenagers. St. Joseph's Collegiate, a Catholic school for grades 9-12 in Brooks, succeeded with the Alpha Youth program. Although food was an important part of the program, it was the message of Jesus that made the students want to stay. Read their story
