Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) has announced it will hold a Tribal listening session on January 31, 2023 to obtain input on the development of the HHS Initiative to Strengthen Primary Health Care. In September 2021, HHS launched its Initiative to Strengthen Primary Health Care (the Initiative) to achieve a federal foundation for the provision of comprehensive, coordinated whole person primary health care, to improve the health of individuals, families, and communities, and improve health equity.
OASH is seeking input from Tribal Leaders about possible HHS actions that may support Tribal efforts to improve the health of Native American individuals, families and communities through strengthened primary care. OASH also hopes to increase the reach of the program to Tribal Nations and Tribal organizations. The input received will inform the program, including its “Initial Action Plan.” Objectives and framing questions for the listening session can be found in the Dear Tribal Leader Letter here.
The Tribal listening session will be held on January 31, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Eastern Time. Interested participants can register for the listening session here. OASH is also accepting written comments at OASHPrimaryHealthCare@hhs.gov. The deadline for submitting comments is March 3, 2023.
