What helps you decide whether to buy a new book? Most of us buy from known authors we already like. Sometimes you get pulled by an enticing cover or a TikTok recommendation, but most of us always take a look at something else before we buy. Reviews.
It is critically important to get reviews on new books as soon as they launch. You probably weigh reviews highly when making a decision whether to try a new author or rely on an old favourite -I know that I do.
Reviews help people decide to give a new writer a shot but, almost as importantly, they help drive early sales which, in turn, means that Amazon takes notice and starts to market on my behalf. And no-one markets books better than Amazon.
In order to make that happen I am building an Advance Readers Team. It's pretty simple and is, I hope, good fun. It involves them being sent a copy of whatever book I've just finished and then, when it is published, firing up a quick and honest review. It doesn't need to be an in depth analysis, just how many stars you give it and a couple of lines on whether you liked it or not. Simple as that.
If you're so inclined, you can give me feedback about errors or plot issues that you feel need changed. Authors are always happy to receive feedback and we always consider it carefully.
Apart from getting a copy of the book before anyone else, I'll try and say thanks with some nice bonuses. I want to keep the team relatively compact and I have a few spots open at the moment. If you would like to get involved, please let me know via sophie@sophieamonroe.com.
See you next time,
Sophie
