Vol. 14, November 2025

November brought another full month for our fall study abroad programs, with HUE wrapping up their semester in England and HUA and HUF entering the final leg of their journeys abroad. From historic landmarks to hands-on learning opportunities, each group made the most of their time overseas. Keep reading to see where HUE, HUA, and HUF traveled as the fall semester draws to a close.

Also, you may recall from a previous newsletter, our partnership with Bison Hospitality in the Caf to feature food inspired by our study abroad locations. This semester, we enjoyed HUF, HUE, and HUA days in the Caf, and we look forward to HUG, HIZ, and HULA days in the spring. This collaboration was recently featured on Amark's website. You can read more about it here. Thank you again to Bison Hospitality for partnering with us!

HUE
Harding University in Europe

HUE spent the final month of the semester in their last country: England. Students loved settling into London and experiencing its famous landmarks. They toured the Churchill War Rooms, the Tower of London, the British Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and even took a ride on the London Eye. The group also ventured outside the city to visit Stonehenge, Bath, and Oxford. The program wrapped up on November 16, with students either returning home or beginning a few weeks of independent travel.

HUA

Harding University in Australasia

November saw the HUA group leave New Zealand and begin the Asian portion of their semester. They started in South Korea, visiting major sites in and around Seoul and Busan, including Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Freedom Bridge, the DMZ, and Busan Tower.

Next, in Thailand, the group explored Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai. Along the way, they visited an elephant sanctuary, toured Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple), saw waterfalls and caves, and more. While in Bangkok, students partnered with the local church to deliver food and water to one of the districts, played English-learning games with children, and shared food with local families.

Their time in Thailand is nearly finished, and next the group will travel to Japan, where they will conclude the semester.

HUF
Harding University in Florence

HUF began the month with a stay in the Casentino Valley and shortly after took a day trip to Lucca and Pisa. Following a week of independent travel, the group reunited at the Villa for their final stretch of classes. This included class time in Florence, highlighted by visits to the Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Museum.

The group will finish out the month (and the semester) with a scenic train ride through Northern Italy and into Switzerland. From there, students will either head home or begin additional independent travel before returning to the U.S.

November’s breakout chapel featured admissions counselor Hannah Diles and Honors College dean Dr. Jim Miller, who shared insights on how study abroad continues to shape one’s personal and professional life long after college.

Onward – Events for Returning Study Abroad Students

This month marked our first two “Onward” events — new opportunities designed to help study abroad alumni stay connected and keep exploring together here in the U.S.

On November 8, students joined a guided hike at Blanchard Springs led by Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, Dana Steil, and Communication Department Chair, Noah Darnell.

On November 16, Executive Director of International Programs, Audra Pleasant, led a day-long excursion to Crystal Bridges Museum, where students enjoyed art and time together.
