I feel as though I may have used that subject line last year, but with apologies to Supertramp the song "Give a Little Bit" popped into my "child of the classic rock era" brain and will not let go.

Yes, indeedy, it is ExtraGive day! Marci and I will be chatting live on the Facebook page/ YouTube channel/ LinkedIn feed trifecta beginning at 10:00 AM. Special guests Secretary Cindy Dunn will join us at 10:00; Mike Teeter, volunteer extraordinaire and outdoor guru (Instagram @oneeyewanderz), at 10:20; and Cradle of Conservation author Allen Dieterich-Ward at 10:45; coffee (or tea) will be brewed.

Photographer and PPFF Member Corey notes that views like this one of the Shock's Mill Bridge along the Susquehanna are a lot easier to achieve with the low water level now being experienced. A hearty welcome to the new Friends of Promised Land State Park, made official during a lively meeting last week. As you might expect from such a well-loved park, the excitement to form this group was pretty high.

It's been a long time since I was at Promised Land; will have to try and use the new group as my "excuse."

In their honor, this photo taken on 11/11 by park staff, is our jigsaw puzzle this week.

The great work restoring the historic CCC Kintzer building at French Creek State Park continues with a beautiful floor replacement project. (Also check out the lovely door to the left of the photo.)

Construction has also begun on upgrading the parking lot for ADA requirements. The work continues because of your support.

Big Spring State Park

Little park, big love. Big Spring is a great place to just stop by as you travel out Route 274 in Perry County, as Carol Kuhar discovered. It is little used and quiet but offers, as you see, a perfect picnic spot and some terrific hiking as well.

Elk State Forest

Michael Sweeny shared this picture of the Paige Run waterfall in the Quehanna Wild Area. Conversation in the Exploring PA Parks & Forests Book of Faces recommends "hike above Red Run Rd along Paige Run all the way to where Lincoln Loop Tr crosses Paige Run and turns NE." Let's go!

Poe Paddy State Park

Here's another sweet little park, but one I've not visited yet. And this is definitely a bench that qualifies for the "benches with the best views" contest. Chad Heisey shared this and other pix on the Pennsylvania State Parks public (at least so far) Book of Faces.

Presque Isle State Park

Photographer Wendy Ormond emailed in this picture she called "Rainbow and Reflection on Misery Bay." Where it is and how it got that name can be found on the history page of the park's webpage. It's always grand to reflect on a rainbow!
