Discover the colour! Zandra Rhodes: A Life in Print at The Holburne Museum until 10 May
“One of my greatest achievements has been redefining the role of print in fashion..."
The Holburne Museum is delighted to present Zandra Rhodes: A Life in Print, a vibrant celebration of one of Britain’s most influential fashion designers.
This dazzling exhibition brings together a spectacular selection of Dame Zandra Rhodes’ screen-printed garments from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, shown as complete ensembles on vintage Adel Rootstein mannequins.
Known for her fearless use of colour, signature prints and sculptural silhouettes, Dame Zandra Rhodes has redefined the role of print in fashion for more than six decades. This exhibition explores the stories behind some of her most iconic designs, arranged into themed ‘hero print’ sections that reveal how Rhodes translated her motifs into unforgettable garments.
Visitors will also enjoy an audio tour narrated by Zandra Rhodes herself, sharing the stories, inspirations and memories behind her most iconic prints, from travel sketches to cultural influences and famous wearers.
In our February issue, Joanna Lewis spoke to the designer about the exhibition, her life in fashion, and the creative drive that continues to propel her forward. Click here to have a read online.

Lodestars Anthology
Lodestars Anthology is a longstanding and consistently standout travel journal that tackles a single country in each issue. All destinations are fairly popular so die-hard explorers are not the target audience, but it’s an attractive, image-heavy read that usefully provides a sense of the place and, if you need it, a bit of adventure too. The publisher, Liz Schaffer, assembles a bespoke and heavily local team of writers and photographers for each outing so for anyone looking to plan and maximise a relatively short visit the Lodestars approach is ideal, especially for long-haul trips. As it happens, the magazine has just released an updated and reimagined take on its New Zealand issue. Liz is an Australian but there’s no trans-Tasman grudge – she loves this neighbour that at first seemed to her like a fairy tale, ‘an ethereal, time-worn corner of the globe.’
