Word For You
Are You Prepared?
14 February 2021
And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”
Like preparing for anything in life, moving home, sitting an examination, planning a group holiday, getting ready for a job interview, preparing a speech etc, it involves a lot of work and more often than not, the results are an indication of the amount of work put in. We started the year with the assurance of a new thing and the Good news for us in February is "The sound of the Abundance of Rain"! To prepare for the Abundance of Rain God has promised this season, we need to:
Act in Faith: Looking closely at the above, after about three and and a half years of drought, God said to Elijah in 1 Kings 18:1 “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.” Elijah obeyed God's instruction and acted in faith, so he said to Ahab in 1Kings 18:41 “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain" Not only did he act in faith according to the word of God, Elijah heard the sound of the abundance of rain in faith too, if it were audible to the physical ears, Ahab would have heard it too. Ahab also did not wait to argue or ask questions, he immediately obeyed the instruction that came with the word. So, this season the Lord is saying there is good news of the abundance of rain concerning your situation or circumstance, I encourage you to hold on to God's word through His Prophet in Faith this season. If He has said it, then He will do it. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. Heb 11:6a
Secondly, PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens): It's also a time for us to go in humility before God in prayer for God's promise to be made real in our lives. God said to Elijah in 1Kings 18:1b "....I will send rain on the earth". yet he went before God alone in humility until the rain came v42-45. Take quality time from the busyness of these days and the ever evolving news of "the Pandemic" to be alone with God praying His promises to physical reality in our lives and the Church. One thing to note, like Elijah, praying according to His will is what will bring results. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16b
Thirdly, Be Watchful: As we persevere in the place of prayer like Elijah, we need to be watchful. Watchfulness entails being sensitive (vigilant and observant both spiritually and physically) to what God is doing even as we pray. In watchfulness, Elijah understood when it was time for the promise to become real and when himself and Ahab had to move so God's promise (the rain) will not end up being a hinderance. In watching and praying, we will know when the promise starts to become physically real and understand when it is time to take the next steps while God brings His promise to pass.
Preparing for God's promise this season involves us acting in faith, praying until something happens and being observant. As we will align ourselves with God and wait patiently for the physical realisation of His promise, may the Lord meet with you at the point of your need in Jesus Name!
