ELEANOR LONGDEN'S TED TALK ON "OVERCOMING"

I didn't hear Eleanor Longden's 2014 TED Talk until today, when NPR played it as a retrospective on the subject of "Overcoming."

She treats the phenomenon of hearing voices as a manifestation of past and current severe emotional trauma in need of compassionate treatment and cooperative consideration.  

She has a low regard for psychiatrists who, in her opinion, are a bit overzealous in diagnosing the phenomenon as "schizophrenia."  She didn't appreciate being drugged and dumped by psychiatrists.

She became what we would consider "mentally ill" when she began following the self-destructive advice being furnished by her voices; however, after a prolonged period in hell, she recognized that -- as stated -- her voices captured aspects of her emotional makeup which she had been trying to suppress since early childhood.  So, she began working with them (the voices).  

During the course of her recovery, she obtained her Bachelors and Master's degrees in psychology, and apparently is about to be awarded a PhD.
I began to think that she had a point until she commented during this TED Talk that her voices dictated the answers to a major exam related to her Master;s Degree.  That told me that external involvement was afoot.
When replaying portions of her TED Talk on NPR, this morning, Guy Raz interviewed Eleanor Longden about the nature of these voices..

You'll want to listen to this, as well.  It ends at about 41 min.  She refers to the types of voices heard (gender, age, tone) and to the manner in which they're heard (ears, inside skull), among other things.  
She also credits one psychiatrist with putting her in touch with other voice-hearers, so, her condemnation of psychiatrists is not entirely blanket in nature.

She still hears voices and admits that, if they go away, she'll be out of a job, since she's focused on aiding other voice-hearers in overcoming their fears.
I wonder if she's heard about DoD's V2K pursuits.  That would be pretty traumatic, I should think.
