Summer Plans
Summer might be two months away, but I am already dreaming of an aqua pool. While it’s hard to leave the poolside, there are several exhibits and shows worth seeing this year.
Take a break from the heat at the Granet Museum in Aix-en-Provence with Bernard Plossu’s photographs “Plossu-Granet, Italia discrete” until August 28. Ever popular, the Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux de Provence transforms the old quarry space into “Venise la Serenissima” with giant scenes of the Grand Canal, bridges, beautiful buildings, and famous churches. The Festival d’Aix returns July 4-23 with a musical calendar of opera and concerts. In Boit, on the outskirts of Nice, the Fernand Léger National Museum is worth visiting for the permanent collection of his work and a new addition Le Transport des Forces (1937). The enormous mural is on loan from the Centre national des arts plastiques in Paris.
