“The most beautiful book I have read in some time. A multi-layered examination of the meaning of love and forgiveness. The characters are flawlessly written, intensely human.” — Sallyann J. Murphey, author of Bean Blossom Dreams
We're thrilled to have Denise Breeden on Author Talks! Set in late 1940s rural Southern Indiana, Making it All RIght is Denice's first novel, and getting widespread acclaim.
According to the bio on her website, Denise has edited books, built her own house from scratch, raised a child, co-run a market farm, and facilitated writing circles for women and children. She lives on a ridge top in south-central Indiana, with a small family, a large garden, and innumerable trees.
Here's a taste of what we'll be talking about:
Her favorite book or author as a kid: "I loved The Lord of the Rings. And Ursula K. Le Guin."
What inspired her to become a writer: "I think I was just made that way. But some influences: my parents, both writers/storytellers and one a preacher; all the novels I read voraciously as a kid. As a teenager I was inspired by Source: Women Writers, a writing group here in Bloomington."
Favorite things to do when not writing: "Napping. Baking. Conversation. Collage. Gardening."
What we'll find her enjoying at the Morgensterns cafe: "I hope there are some really good butter cookies. And a good selection of decaf tea. :)"
