Rugs by Starchitects: Marco Piva and Studio Fuksas design two new rugs for Illulian

Sinuous motifs mark atmospheres and spaces with new creative frontiers that fear no limits: Illulian presents Distorsion, designed by Marco Piva, and The Cloud from Studio Fuksas, debuting in the 2020 edition of Salone del Mobile.

Poetic vision and rigorous design are the stylistic signatures of these two exclusive models, breathing life into an aesthetic language rich in symbolism and an enthralling decorative effect.

DISTORSION by Marco Piva_Limited Edition

The weave of the thread like the weave of the cosmos. The fibres which, alone, light, and fragile, come together solidly thanks to the expert hands of those who know how to work them. Thus is the universe woven by skilful “hands”.

The Imaginary Space collection - of which Distortion is a part - was born from the desire to ask, on a much broader scale as compared to the finite area of a rug, questions that find an answer in these sometimes sinuous and sometimes reticular geometries, with lines which create shapes that cannot be assimilated into known designs. The contours create a sort of imaginary architecture, which we are able to perceive, yet not materialise into elementary shapes. In the designs, the colours of the wool and silk weave together and transform our perception of familiar space. Transformations and metamorphoses which have led to the creation of this collection of rugs that adapt themselves to the most modern and contemporary aesthetic needs of interior design.

The design of this rug, with its sinuous and organic contours, generates shapes which, depending on the orientation, appear always different, as though they are in constant movement. The more you look at them, the more you discover new configurations. An object that bring a small piece of the sky into our homes.
