'During this Holy Week, let us lift our eyes to the cross, in order to receive the grace of amazement. Let us be amazed by Jesus so that we can start living again, for the grandeur of life lies not in possessions and promotions, but in realizing that we are loved. At the foot of the cross there can be no mistake: God has revealed himself and reigns only with the disarmed and disarming power of love.' (Pope Francis, 2021)
The following briefly highlights each day of Holy Week with words from our popes & saints, resources, music and some reminders. May your Holy Week be blessed!
Judas’s attitude was contrary to the person who loves, for he never understood what a gift is. 'On the contrary, when Mary Magdalene washed Jesus’ feet with nard—very costly—it is a moment of thanksgiving, a moment of love.' (Pope Francis, 2013)
How can we pray during Holy Week in a way that will prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ on Easter? Get insights from Fr. Mark Toups.

The Wednesday of Holy Week is sometimes known as “Holy Wednesday” or “Spy Wednesday,” since it remember the day Judas betrayed Jesus.
"God can turn everything to a good purpose. Even Judas' betrayal became, through divine providence, the occasion for Jesus' supreme act of love, for the salvation of the world." (Pope Benedict XVI, 2006)
Christ felt the need to humble himself at the feet of his disciples... From that time onwards, by sharing himself in the eucharistic communion, would he not continually lower himself to the level of so many human hearts? Would he not always serve them in this way? (Pope John Paul II, 1979)

This Holy Week, as Jesus prepares to lay down his very life for you, he invites you to stay with him. He wants you to be with him as he is betrayed, arrested, and crucified. He wants you to be with him when he rises from the dead.
Watch this short video reflection from Fr. Mark Toups and invite the Lord in.
Consider this...
God wants to give you more.
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.' John 3:16
How will you respond? Will you stay by his side? The answer to this question will change your life.
While some prefer to join the facilitated parish synod listening sessions, you might find it more comfortable to have a faith conversation around the dinner table or in a coffee shop.
Invite a friend or two for a walk, coffee or a dinner, and chat about the two questions of the Synod. Share your thoughts with us at cathoicyyc.ca/synod
