Another way to think about is that before concerning yourself with what techniques you will use, you ensure that how you approach it is covered properly.
Simply put; your attention is how strong and long you can focus on a specific task. We often don't think of it this way but attention is a skill and can be trained just like a muscle. You strain your attention to its limit and the next time you do it's grown back noticeably stronger.
