More great things...
Show Up. Be Seen. Stand Out. Are You Game?

Hello again,

Welcome back to the "Great Things" newsletter!

After a tumultuous two weeks, I'd like to say things are calming down again right now but they're not. Life is set to stay rocky for the foreseeable future.

But onwards to the latest Great Things that have had an impact on me...

The Latest & Greatest

"All too often our so-called strength comes from fear, not love; instead of having a strong back, many of us have a defended front, shielding a weak spine.

In other words we walk around brittle and defensive, trying to conceal our lack of confidence. If we strengthen our backs, metaphorically speaking, and develop a spine that's flexible but sturdy, then we can risk having a front that's soft and open...

How can we give and accept care with strong-back, soft-front compassion, moving past fear into a place of genuine tenderness?

I believe it comes about when we can be truly transparent, seeing the world clearly – and letting the world see into us"

– Roshi Joan Halifax, quoted in Braving The Wilderness by Brené Brown.

My default MO in times of stress is to turn inwards to myself, to hunker down and shut the world out. It's a pattern that I no doubt learned at the age of X days old when I was first abandoned by my birth mother. I've repeated that pattern ever since in times of extreme stress.

But not this time. This time – partly out of desperation and need – I turned towards others. In a BIG way. And what I've found is that they've been there in spades. Doing this is a huge part of my journey – to trust that even when I show up 'broken' and not just as the competent, capable Lea everyone knows and usually sees, people are still there. And they still love me.

We are so used to showing up as strong, confident, capable, big, successful, popular...and so terrified of what would happen if we don't, of what would happen if we *truly* show ourselves in our moments of weakness...not just when they're over and we've processed/dealt with them but in the moment, as they're happening.

What you gain from daring to show this kind of vulnerability, as I've recently experienced, is an empowering strength.

So, my Great Thing this week is turning to others – it has been life-saving for me. If you struggle to do it, take a risk and try it. You may just be surprised by what you find...

Websites That Work

While we build custom websites, we also build 'starter' websites – basic but effective websites for folk who need a more robust presence online than just a FB page or an Insta profile – for £250.

These are ideal if you're looking to showcase who you are/what you do online without needing to update it regularly, though it's also very simple to add a blog if you want to start blogging (also a great way to get started online).

About Pages That Work

"Lea understands that About Pages need to come from your heart and soul. Her razor-sharp questions cut through my waffle and helped me tell her what I wanted to be known for online.

From those answers she crafted a wonderful about page that captured my voice and superpower. Thanks to Lea, my readers now have a clearer vision about me. Thanks to Lea, I now feel the real me is present online."

– A. Hunter
