We’re reviewing Conditions for Entitlement – General Principles, which explains how WorkSafeNB determines whether a worker is entitled to compensation.

The proposed revisions are intended to make the policy clearer, more consistent and easier to follow.

Your feedback will help us ensure the policy is clear, fair and supports well-informed decisions for workers and employers.

The consultation closes July 20.

Sponsoring mental health conversations for first responders

We were proud to sponsor the 2026 Atlantic Canada First Responders’ Mental Health Conference, held recently in Charlottetown, PEI.

The event brought together frontline workers, researchers, health-care professionals, leaders, and advocates from across Canada to advance conversations around psychological health and safety for trauma-exposed professionals and their families.

Thank you to everyone who represented WorkSafeNB at the conference and helped strengthen these important connections across the region. As we continue to support psychological health and safety, we encourage employees to keep these conversations going with their teams and colleagues.

Congratulations to our first PlaySafeNB grant recipients

WorkSafeNB is proud to announce the first recipients of its PlaySafeNB grant program, an initiative designed to help youth sports organisations create safer and more positive experiences for young athletes across New Brunswick. WorkSafeNB’s PlaySafeNB awarded $10,000 in grants in 2026. 

The 2026 PlaySafeNB recipients are: 

• Fredericton Fusion Basketball Association 

• Association des P’tits Maniacs de Kent-Sud 

Selected from more than 80 applicants, each organisation will receive $5,000 of funding to support projects that strengthen physical and psychological safety in sport, helping youth play, learn and grow in safer environments. 

In the courts

WorkSafeNB's health and safety officers and occupational hygienists are given legislative authority to write orders under the OHS Act, to improve safety and prevent workplace injuries in New Brunswick.

When these orders are not complied with, or when an incident has taken place as a result of a violation of the Act and/or its regulations, WorkSafeNB may recommend charges to the Department of Justice.

Can you clarify the proximity requirement of a toilet for a workstation? We have toilets on site, but they are too far of a walk for some of us. I am also wondering if it is required to have a doctor’s note for medical accommodation on being closer to a toilet as I have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
