Quotas boost progress on gender equality in business and politics

If progress advances at the current pace, we won’t achieve gender balance in politics before 2050. However, quotas have proven to accelerate the shift towards gender balance, with the proportion of women in parliaments growing three times faster in EU countries with quotas than in countries without. In business, we have reached an all-time high of women on company boards but they still account for less than 10 % of CEOs. Read our statistical notes on women and men in decision-making here.
