It has been lovely to enjoy the beautiful weather recently and the new play park is getting plenty of use! We have installed a kiosk, kindly restored by Poundbury Rotary, at the rear of the building which now serves ice creams and cold drinks on our busiest days! We had a wonderful time celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - read on for more detail about this as well as other exciting forthcoming events!

Secondly the day would not have been possible without our wonderful sponsors meaning we had fantastic free crafting activities for the children, a spectacular cake, a whole afternoon of live music from Dr Jazz and the wonderful solo singer perfectly compered by Pegasus Discos, and lots of prizes!

Thank you to those of you of all ages who made such an effort with the best dressed dog competition, dressing up your tables and yourselves, making the Jubilee pudding and braving the weather! We had a challenging Right Royal Quiz with 78 entries and a close finish – sorry we didn’t manage to read out the correct answers – do email helena@alcoholeducationtrust.org if you’d like them!

Poundbury and Dorchester residents shared their memories and photos and we had a beautiful montage of the Queen through her life. A very big thank you to Philippa Thornley for lending us her memorabilia, including her Coronation scrap book and her diary written on the day!

Senior Social - 14th July

Our Senior Socials are proving to be really popular. They are held on the Second Thursday of every month when the community room is open to over 65s for a social gathering, with free tea, coffee and cake on offer as well as a warm welcome from our fabulous volunteers Fiona and June. Everyone welcome! Next session is 14th July 10am - 12pm.

Music at the Pavilion - 24th June

The next Music at the Pavilion is 24th June 12pm - 1pm so please come along and enjoy a relaxing hour of live music outside the café. Dorset Police has recently launched a new crackdown targeting  county lines drug gangs operating in the county.

Operation Viper involves a team of police using intelligence and enforcement to rid Dorset of county lines gangs and make the region a hostile place for those dealing drugs and bringing misery on communities.

The newly created Neighbourhood Enforcement Teams will be working closely with existing Neighbourhood Policing Teams to provide visibility, proactive enforcement and community engagement as well as a dedicated County Lines Task Force to disrupt incoming drug networks.

It will also feed into the regional intelligence picture to prevent harm and drugs coming into the county from other cities around the country. There has already been significant disruption to these gangs across the county.
