Renovations have begun!

Dear CCLW family,

I'm happy to tell you that our Resound renovations are underway. As soon as we received our permit from the county, the construction crew arrived and got right to work. It's an exciting time in the life of our church!

New Member Spotlight!

Janet and Skip Pawul

Janet and Skip have lived in Lake Wylie for 17 years having located here from Long Island, NY where they grew up and raised their family. Three years ago, Skip, a business owner, retired. Janet worked in reflexology during her career. A couple years ago they built their home on the lake, including a house for Janet's mother.

Janet says their proudest accomplishment as a couple is raising 3 happy, successful children. Diana lives in Lake Wylie, Danielle in Long Island and Tim in Texas. The couple are proud of their 8 grandchildren and enjoy creating "Magic Memories" for them. Skip enjoys golf and plays at Myers Park CC and other well-known courses throughout the U.S. They also enjoy traveling and love the pace of living here at the lake.

Janet grew up attending Protestant churches while Skip was a Catholic. Both enjoy going to the Community Bible Study. Skip says they have been searching for a church home for many years and have finally found it in CCLW! They love the music and Ryan's inspiring, relevant messages. The Pawuls look forward to meeting more people and getting involved in the life of the church. Skip continues to say that what they like most about CCLW is "The Holy Spirit is very present!"

SIGN UP TO ATTEND A DINNER

As our church continues to grow and more folks are looking for ways to get to know people, we are offering a way to connect. Meeting over a meal binds people in special and simple ways. Dinner for 8 is a casual and relaxed opportunity to build relationships and meet people here at Community Church at Lake Wylie.

Register below to attend a dinner that fits your availability and location. All times will be from 6:30pm - 8pm. Once you have registered, you will receive an additional email with the exact address of the dinner you selected.

And then just show up ready to enjoy a dinner with casual conversation and connection!

THE MOUNTAINS STILL NEED OUR HELP

Church, you were amazing at Christmas! This picture shows all we delivered to the 1st Baptist Church of Swannanoa in December. With your help, we were able to provide warm coats, gas money, toys and other clothing to over 450 families at Christmas…the people whose lives continue to be so devastated by Hurricane Helene.

Communities are being put back together in the Swannanoa/Black Mountain area, but it is slow. The 1st Baptist Church continues to provide food and other daily needs to many folks on a regular basis. They are supported by many local and regional churches and non-profits in this effort. At this point they do not need our help with this type of item. However, 1st Baptist is beginning a new program of assistance for people that are now able to move back into their homes…their homes that have nothing but 4 walls because everything was lost in the flood. They are gathering names of people and inviting them to a House Warming Boutique. These families will be able to shop in the church “store” and pick up products that you and I take for granted…sheets, towels, toasters, etc. A plate to eat on. A mixer to make a cake. A fork.

They have asked us to help…and the Mission Committee said YES!

We hope you say YES too!!

Here are their needs (new items only):
.   Sheets (king & twin sizes)

    Bath towels

    Small kitchen appliances

    Dishes (sets of 4 or more)

    Silverware (sets of 4 or more)

Because of the Resound construction we are a bit cramped for space. We ask that you bring your selections to the Hamilton’s Ferry door (during the week or on Sunday morning) and leave them by either wall as you enter the church (look for a sign on the wall). Someone will move them to a storage area elsewhere on a regular basis so the entry will not be too jammed up.

All items must be at the church by Sunday, March 30, for delivery to Swannanoa.

Camp Centurion

On Saturday, March 22, 2025, we'll be holding a Volunteer Work Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow supporters, meet our residents and contribute directly to the upkeep and improvement of our beautiful Veterans Stability Home.

We'll have a variety of tasks available which will be suitable for all skill levels and abilities. Whether you're handy with tools, have a green thumb or simply want to lend a helping hand, there will be something for you to do. Examples of potential projects include:

• Gardening and landscaping
• Painting and repairs
• Cleaning and organization
• Preparing activity areas

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

This is a wonderful chance to experience the Camp Centurion spirit and make a tangible difference in the lives of the veterans we serve. We believe that your involvement goes beyond financial support, and we value your time and dedication.

The Next New Members Class is March 23rd.

In our membership class, you will hear about our beliefs, the foundation of our church and what it means to be an active member at CCLW. We think of membership as a partnership in which we grow together as a Christian community. You will have an opportunity to hear from ministry leaders, discover areas in which you can serve and find groups you can join.

Our membership class is held four times a year on Sundays at 12:15 p.m. Lunch is provided, and registration is needed so we can plan for childcare and make sure we have enough food.

Cookies for Kairos

Kairos Prison Ministry is allowed to spend a weekend with a few men twice a year. In addition, we take cookies to every incarcerated man (and guards) when we do the visit to let everyone feel a part of this Christ-centered time. It is very special for all the cookie recipients, as well as the Kairos representatives who spend their weekend at Kershaw Correctional Institution. And you can help us with this endeavor!!

WE NEED HOMEMADE COOKIES...and lots of them! Click the button below for specific guidelines that must be adhered to.

Cookies must be at the church by noon on Sunday, March 23rd.

Saturday, March 29th at 5 p.m. The 4th Cross dinner/play at NarroWay Productions theatre. A few tickets are still available if you are interested in joining us.

Thursday, April 10th at 5:30 p.m.  Fiesta Dinner($25) at Clover High School with the proceeds going to teachers and students at Clover High School. The dinner will be followed by a 7 p.m. Clover Choraliers performance. Penny McClure has tickets for the dinner.

Friday, May 16th at 6 p.m. “Praise and Paint” party from 6-8 p.m. at CCLW’s kids clubhouse. Absolutely no artistic ability required! The cost of $35 per person will provide you with all the materials you need to create your pre-sketched masterpiece!

Saturday, June 7th at 11 a.m.  A la carte Brunch at Clover Harvest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

RSVPS for all of these events will be requested at a later date!

Vacation Bible School 2025

It’s time for kids to hit the trail...for adventure!

At True North, kids discover that they can trust Jesus in a wild world! True North is filled with awesome Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear and touch! Hands-on science experiments, team-building games, unforgettable Bible songs and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life.

Family Ministry Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer Admin/Communications Role Description

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping others stay connected? We’re looking for a volunteer to support our Family Ministry admin and communications efforts!

FOOD ASSISTANCE FOR THE BLESSING BOX

Clover Area Assistance Center (CAAC) prevailed on CCLW to install a mini pantry (Blessing Box) in 2023. The canned goods left in the box are intended for the local homeless as well as families who need help stretching their food supply. CAAC reports that since COVID, they have seen a large uptick in Lake Wylie residents needing food assistance, and that is why we have the Blessing Box on the parking lot side of our church (follow the signs from highway 49).

We need your help. In order to keep this pantry filled with appropriate foodstuffs, we ask that you buy a few extra cans of food (see the separate list) when you are grocery shopping each week. Simply place them directly in the Blessing Box or put them on the table in Room 116. A member of the Missions Committee will do the rest.

Thank you for this ongoing support. Our local community continues to grow and with that growth comes new challenges. Feeding the homeless and helping families are responsibilities in which we can help.
