I’m finally up and running on my new computer, but the transition wasn’t as smooth as I hoped, mainly due to changing up some of my software. It turns out my copy of Scrivener (writing software) was outdated and wouldn’t activate. Thankfully, I could upgrade to the new version at a discount, but the interface is a little different, and now I have to learn some new techniques.
The other upgrade was moving away from my old version of Microsoft Office (2010) to Office 365. This one is significantly different and is slowing me down a little, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it.
What else? Not much, if I’m being honest. My next big decision will be whether or not I get the free upgrade to Windows 11. I’m sure I’ll get it eventually, the big question is when. The problem for me is learning a new system takes time away from my writing, so I have to be careful when to schedule such things.
Anyway, enough about me. What about you? Have you ever suffered from an upgrade?

Later this year, I’ll be finishing The Frozen Flame series. By then, it’ll be eight books long, and the story of Athgar and Natalia will be complete. Saying goodbye to these characters will be difficult, but their tale sets up a future series of books that will follow… Oops, I shouldn’t be giving that away, though doubtless, you’ve figured it out by now. (Assuming, of course, that you’ve read this series)
I will reveal, however, that this new series takes place some years later. Will Athgar and Natalia put in an appearance? Yes, but primarily as supporting characters. Fear not, though. Their legacy will live on.
Now, I should get back to work before I give everything away!

Temple Captain introduced the Temple Fleet of Saint Agnes with the Lydia, a merchant vessel they renamed Vigilant, more fitting to its new owners. Next added to the fleet was the Vigilant, formerly a pirate vessel named the Seawolf. Danica chose to have a naming convention by starting all her ships’ names with the letter ‘V’.
However, as the story progressed, larger ships were acquired (don’t worry, I won’t give away spoilers), requiring a new naming convention. My father served in the Royal Navy, so I adopted the old practice of using a class system, whereby each ship of a given class starts with the same letter.
Now that I’m writing Temple Commander, the fleet has expanded and includes ships beginning with ‘F’ (Fearless, Formidable, Furious) as well as ‘I’ (Illustrious, Indomitable, Invincible).
If they somehow acquire other designs, I shall have to pick a new letter!

A Medieval Sherlock Holmes
Brother Cryic is a medieval Sherlock Holmes. When faced with the mystery of a Plague that fails to spread like you would expect one to spread he has to look closer.
The cause of the Plague is found by another but not everything is as it seems.
Can't say more without spoiling the plot so I guess you will just have to read the book to find out

Temple Commander is now in the home stretch and roaring towards its conclusion. At my current pace, I should be done by the end of next week, possibly even sooner, though admittedly, editing the first chapters may require some of my time.
Next in the queue is Torrent, book seven in The Frozen Flame series. It already has quite a detailed outline, so it will only require a quick read-through before I begin the actual writing.
Until next time, happy reading!
PS – Don’t forget to download your final free Cyric story this week.

The tunnels will open again tonight, but this time, we’re not strong enough to stop it.
Stuck as a lowly village boy, Will always dreamed of becoming a knight. When he’s summoned to train as a squire in the mighty castle of Alamore, it seems too good to be true.
After stumbling upon a secret network of passageways hidden beneath the castle, Will uncovers a group of long-forgotten enemies of the crown. As old alliances fracture and their uneasy peace comes to an end, Will finds himself thrust headlong into a brewing war - soon realizing that more than luck brought him to Alamore.
Will must unravel the secrets lurking in the shadowy halls of Alamore and find a way to stop a seemingly inevitable war. But the answer lies with a man even more mysterious than the passages he roams. A man known as the Ranger of Kings...

A quest to stop the black bane.
An adventure unfolds in this epic fantasy short story of wondrous creatures, clashing cultures, a mysterious evil force, and four distinct races fighting against an unknown enemy determined to destroy them all.
During the previous full moon, the ancient salvus trees prepared to display their fall colors and stood sentry over the Florix tribes who lived in the branches below. But, as fast as storm clouds rolling in, a fatal black sludge attacked the plant life, poisoned the water, and left the forest people sick and dying.
Painful black boils appeared on farmers’ and herb-gatherers’ hands and arms, and in mere days the killing disease spread to entire families. Within a month, the bane decimated entire villages. Nothing would stop the spread of death. Not even their healer’s magic.
