If you do rake leaves, your challenge is to keep leaves on-site and use them where you can.
Spread leaves in flower beds, or anywhere else you have wood chip mulch. Leaves are Natureâs free mulch!
Use leaves as a base layer for sheet mulching projects, adding another organic layer under the cardboard to smother grass and break down into rich soil.
Simply collect leaves and compost with other yard debris. They add nutrients for future soil and make great habitat for overwintering pollinators, insects and wildlife. Pick a spot less trafficked by humans, more protected and less visible to the âdiscerning eyesâ that may pass by.
As the seasons progress, keep observing the leaves remaining in your landscape, and what happens to them over time. This one simple shift of perspective can make such a difference for beneficial insects. Itâs a great opportunity to inspire your neighbors to do less in their gardens, and let Nature do more.
