I want to start this letter off by saying a big thank you to everyone who has been praying for our family these past few years. It seems like only yesterday we started our journey towards being full-time missionaries at Missionary Acres in Missouri. Now we are so very close to seeing that become a reality.
I think, in truth, God has been preparing us for this ministry for a long time. We didn't always see it, but the jobs we have held, the experiences we have lived, the knowledge we have gained over the years, have all helped prepare us for this ministry.
As we get close to making the move to Missouri, I have found myself looking back over the past few years and just being amazed at how God has moved mountains for our family and brought us to where we are today.
I am reminded of Matthew 17:20
"...If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
When we started this process, it seemed too big at times, so we just prayed and asked a lot of people to pray with us. We see the results of that prayer, and God is moving mountains. We rely on Him because we know we do not have the strength to do it alone.
On May 2nd, 2021, our sending church will have a "Commissioning Service for Bryan & Lisa Tanner, missionaries to Missionary Acres in Silva, Missouri." That seems odd to say. In a way, it is a service that will celebrate all of the prayers and sacrifices that so many others have made – by the grace of God – to get us to where we are today.
Everyone is invited – sorry if I didn't personally give you a call – and we are excited to see how God continues to use our family in service for Him.
We have a little more support to raise along the way, we are not quite there yet, but as God has done time and time again, He will provide that support in His time. And we look forward to watching Him do just that.
Praising God all along the way,
Bryan & Lisa Tanner & Family
The start of April was a little slow ministry wise. Our little Ezra came a little eary, and needed a few extra doctor appointments. We also took some time to rest and recover as a family.
However, we are gearing up and getting ready to hit the road again. As mentioned, we will be having our Commissioning Service on May 2nd. The following week, we will be on the road in Lynden, WA. After that, we are heading to Missouri with a load of stuff for the house, and to take our oldest daughter, Jayme, off to college – tears will be shed, I am sure...
After we drop her off, we will be making a quick return to the northwest. We have June meetings scheduled in Washington and Montana.
Our hope is to make the official move to Missouri in July. There is also a potential trip to Cleveland, OH in July for another seminar at the Baptist Mid-Mission Global Ministry Center.
Our current support level is 92.1%. We are still looking to raise an additional $460 in monthly support.
We are very thankful and happy to announce that we have had some more gifts come in for our outfit and passage fund. We also sold our travel trailer, and are applying those funds to this account as well. This means we are currently sitting at about $20,000.
Last month I mentioned our goal is about $27,500. We are praying we can raise every bit of this as the cost of fuel and building supplies are going up again. These funds will be used to help us move to Missouri and do some repairs and modifications to the home we are moving into. Due to the size of our family, we will need to convert garage space to living space, add a couple of bedrooms, and possibly another bathroom.
Missionary Acres Update
We recently learned that a church about 21 miles north of our sending church donated a considerable amount of supplies and money to Missionary Acres. So much of the work at Missionary Acres is done through volunteers and donations. We are so thankful for the time and money that others are willing to give towards this ministry!
There is still a need for more volunteers. With COVID-19 slowing down travel and so many restrictions nationwide, the number of volunteers scheduled to come to Missionary Acres this year is down quite a bit.
If you or your church are interested in taking a mission trip this year but don't want to leave the country due to COVID, please consider making a trip to Missouri instead. All levels of skill – or even lack of skills – are welcome. You don't have to be a contractor. There are all kinds and sizes of projects that could use your assistance. Please let us know when you would like to come, and we will put you in contact with Ken Moon, the Missionary Acres Administrator.
We praise God, for all of the kind words that were sent to us over the past month. We have received letters, cards, Facebook chats, etc. and has been a real encouragement to our family.
Ezra is doing well. He is not back to his birth weight yet, but is gaining now, and should be back to birth weight soon.
Lisa is recovering well after the c-section.
Our current committed support level is 92.1%
Jayme was accepted to College of the Ozarks, and is looking forward to studying graphic design there this fall. UPDATE: she has also been accepted into the summer work study program, and will be heading to the campus in May to work. This will cover her food and lodging expenses for the coming school year. Praise God!
We were able to sell our travel trailer to help build our outfit and passage fund.
For more meetings.
We are looking to get meetings scheduled in the south beginning in August. If you know of any churches that might be interested in our ministry, please let us know
For a fully-funded outfit and passage account so we can quickly get our home at the Acres ready and make the cross-country move this summer
That our family would grow closer to God and continue to grow spiritually during deputation.
For salvation for our children who are not yet saved.
That the residents and staff currently at Missionary Acres would continue to stay healthy.
That God would raise our support level to 100%.
For continued safety on the roads.
For continued health for our family.
