If you've ever started a nutritional or detox protocol with your child, and they seem to get worse instead of better, this may be because their system is already overloaded. Their bodies are not going to be receptive to any changes until they calm down and have enough energy to cope.
This is why we always work on supporting the stress response first and foremost. We have a multi-pronged approach that works on avoiding triggers, supporting the nervous system, and strengthening the adrenal glands that are responsible for creating the stress hormone cortisol.
We do this using many tools including but not limited to:
- Stress-reduction techniques
- Sensory toys
- Balancing blood sugar
- Healthy whole foods diet
- Supplements when indicated
- Exercise
- Nature
- Constipation relief
- Probiotics and prebiotics
- Sleep support
- Cranial osteopathy
For a full explanation of the above, read more in the blog or book in a call with one of our practitioners.
It does take extra work and patience to get a child to a more calm and relaxed state, and can often feel like you are walking on eggshells, worried about reducing every trigger possible. However, as the child improves it does get easier and once the child can regulate their stress consistently, all other interventions will work better.
Try to get as much support as you can while you work on your child's stress response and always work with a health practitioner when introducing new diets or supplements to your child.
