In Fall 2022, Illinois Swimming created the Championship Meet Task Force to evaluate current championship meets, analyze participation data, and identify the needs of Illinois Swimming. They proposed alternative formats to enhance accessibility and engagement.

Initial recommendations were at the House of Delegates in 2023, updates and changes were made and then voted on at the House of Delegates in 2024.

The linked document outlines a summary of the changes to our Championship Meets starting in Spring 2025.

A record breaking election! 19 Athlete Rep Candidates and over 1k votes!

Congratulations all 19 Candidates and to our newly elected Junior Reps:

Brayden Capen, Aria Grossenbach and Karina Miller

Our Senior Athlete Reps are hard at work to increase athlete engagement - If you are a senior athlete interested in a committee or becoming more involved in Illinois Swimming,  submit a committee application! 

A first of its kind of camp offered to Club Delegates & Athlete Representative Candidates, a Jack Yetter idea....

Held prior to House of Delegates on October 6th, this camp brought together 40 of Illinois Swimming Athlete Leaders for an in-water session, led by Michael Hamann (FOX/Age Group Chair) with special guest and HOF Inductee, Azra Avdic. 

Athletes then moved to classroom sessions focused on athlete involvement at the local and national level, what to expect at HOD and finished off the camp with a surprise appearance from Rowdy Gaines!

The 2024-2025 Senior Quad Challenge kicked off with 64 high school age boys across Illinois participating in the camp held September 28-29th at Stevenson High School.

On October 6th, with host Rowdy Gaines, Illinois Swimming celebrated the top swims from this past year and also honored the class of 2024 as they were inducted into the Illinois Swimming Hall of Fame. 

Congratulations to all honored athletes, award winners and Hall of Fame Inductees!
