The Choices and Consequences series is set in a future version of our
world. The world has been devastated by war but also by catastrophic
natural disasters - earthquakes and volcanoes, hurricanes and tsunamis,
floods, drought, and famine followed by disease and plagues. The few
remaining inhabitants pledged to care for the Earth and live
sustainably on it. If you'd like to read more about these disasters they are in chapters 2 and 24 of Strand of Faith.
It doesn't take much searching to find a range
of things we can all do to reduce our impact on the planet - a few examples include reducing our plastic consumption, eating less (or no) meat and dairy, recycling, using renewable energy, and planting more trees.
One of the
things I've done is to sign up for Ecologi - a
small monthly subscription and they plant trees, not just to offset set
carbon footprints, but also to help the communities in which they plant
them. They also support a range of community projects aimed at reducing
CO2 levels.
If you sign up during April, they will plant 100
extra trees for you for free, and if you sign up through this link,
they'll also plant an extra 30 trees for me. And a personal subscription costs as little as £4.70 a month - for that they'll plant almost 100 trees a year, and offset 3 tonnes of CO2. So why not go ahead, help save our planet?
