👋 Welcome back to my monthly newsletter! Before we depart, I'll tell you a little bit about me. I am a 14-year-old technology enthusiast with a mission to solve important, real-world problems and positively impact the lives of billions.🔑
This month was an amazing start to 2021! I’ve spent a lot of time working on some super cool Nanotechnology and personal projects, as well as so much more!
DNA Nanotechnology to Treat Cancer and Tuberculosis
For my first nanotechnology project, I used DNA Nanotechnology in a program called caDNAno to design, model and simulate a 3D nanostructure cube for targeted drug delivery. In short, I modelled a cube that would transport the drugs to the desired tumour/TB, unlock the latch and release the drugs. This way, only the harmful cells are killed, without damaging any healthy cells.
To learn more about how the science and technology behind all of this works, check out the my article about this project below.
To see exactly how and what I built, as well as the simulation of the DNA nanostructure, check out the video below.
As I briefly mentioned in last month's newsletter, I have been diving very deep into nanotechnology and understanding how it works, its applications and more things of that nature. That said, I never found one comprehensive but still easy to understand video of all the basics of nanotechnology, so I decided to create one!
In this fairly short video, you will learn everything you need to know about the basics of nanotech and enough to hold a conversation with someone in the field!

Instacart Consulting Presentations
After submitting our recommendation decks to Instacart in December, my group was one of only a few groups to get selected to present live! Right now we are busy refining our ideas, creating the deck and preparing our presentation.
A quick overview of 3 main lessons I learned this month
Network = Net Worth
This month I really doubled down on cold outreach, setting up meetings and growing my network because I learned how valuable it can be.
Take Care of Yourself
Sometimes when we get really busy, we forget to take care of our mental and physical health. We need to be aware and take care to avoid burnout or stress.
Value Your Time
This month I really learned how valuable time is and now that I have plenty of it, we need to make the most of it. This becomes very clear when you get very busy.
💡 Spotlight: Work-Life Balance ⚖️
Reflecting on 2020 and my last couple of months, at the beginning of January I realized that I have been spending way, way too much time at my desk and working. When I started understanding why, I realized that it was because I wasn't being as productive as I could be and I wasn't optimizing my time.
In order to tackle those problems, I continued to do my daily goals of what I wanted to get done to keep me on track, but I started experimenting with timeblocking. Essentially, that is when I block out certain periods in my day to do specific tasks. I've found that this is really helpful sometimes and it eliminates a lot of wasted time in between tasks.
Another thing I have started implementing is a daily work cutoff by 9pm. What this does is it allows me to have a deadline for all my daily goals, making sure they get done, or forgetting about it and having time for other things like spending time with family, reading, etc.
Overall, developing a good work-life balance is one of the most important lessons which I learned this month.
