National Library Card Sign-Up Month

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and we did it right this year. Throughout the month, we reminded our Instagram followers about the myriad ways you can use your Library card. We posted "25 Ways to Use Your Camas Library Card" with suggestions such as:

  • Check out a book club kit
  • Use our printing services
  • Reserve a meeting room
  • Charge your mobile device

And so many more!

We also instituted our first ever Celebrity Sign-Up Week, with prime photo opportunities for families. I've included just a few of those photos below, but there are many more in the albums on our Facebook page. They are adorable!

Thanks to all staff who happily registered new patrons for their Library cards, and to the members of this year's Library Card Sign-Up committee, who truly went all out: Debbie Chevron, Karen Nicholson, and Kaysie Taylor.

The complete Celebrity Sign-Up Week in photos below.
Monday: Forky craft and Toy Story cut-outs.

Tuesday: Police officer visit.

Wednesday: Camas mayors (both human and dog!).

Thursday: Firefighter visit and stories.

Friday: Elsa from Frozen

Saturday: Petting zoo.

    Camas Public Library Meeting Rooms

    This month, we're taking a snapshot of meeting room use. During the month of September:

    67% of meeting room use was allocated for programs and events, open to the public (hosted by the Library and also by community groups);

    24% provided meeting room space to not-for-profit groups, including HOAs;

    9% gave Library and City staff a place for private meetings

    A big thanks to Christopher Knipes for his work with all of these groups in scheduling their needs for the meeting rooms.

    Big Kids' Sleepover

    The annual Big Kids' Sleepover was Friday, September 27. The kids and their adults played games, did the limbo, and slept anywhere in the Library they wanted! It was another fun night, followed by donuts and juice in the morning. Thanks to Ellen Miles and Hannah Deslatte for the work they put into it.
