“Placemaking is a science and an art, but community conversations about how, where, and what to build often focus on the science,” says local author, gardener, photographer, and placemaker Dr. Christie Purifoy.
“Facts and figures can feel like solid ground for group discussion and decision making, but how do we talk about the things our spreadsheets leave out? Is it possible to have productive conversations about subjective concepts like aesthetics, emotion, or collective memory?”
