“I could die for you. But I couldn't, and wouldn't, live for you.”
Ayn Rand
Reflection
Where is the line between your and my responsibilities? How much can I support you without taking control and disconnecting you from your responsibility? Taking responsibility requires not only a wish but also an ability. Helping someone who cannot take responsibility is a form of love. However, I do not think it is supportive to make it easier for someone able to take responsibility to avoid it.
Today's exercise
Be aware during the day if you are trying to take responsibility for something you have no control over (for example, other people's feelings). Also pay attention if you try to abdicate responsibility for something you have control over (for example, if you do not fulfill your commitments).
